Eschew divisiveness, work harder for victory - NPP supporters urged
A US-based member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Samuel Ofosu-Appiah, has charged members of the party to eschew all forms of divisiveness and work harder as the presidential and parliamentary elections draw near.
He said with about 60 days to the election, the party needed to remain united and focused on the goal of victory.

“This is the time for all members of the NPP to bury the hatchet and rally behind our flag, as well as our flag bearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, for victory,” he said.
Mr Ofosu-Appiah, who is also the Chairman of the US chapter of Friends of Bawumia (FoB), was speaking to the Daily Graphic from his base in Maryland, USA .
Testimony
Mr Ofosu-Appiah said significant work had been done by the government in the last eight years and that was enough testimony for Ghanaians to renew the mandate of the party, but they do not have to be complacent.
Touching on the role of the FoB in the USA, he said they have embarked on an aggressive membership mobilisation, as well as fundraising to support Dr Bawumia and Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh's campaign.
Mr Ofosu-Appiah expressed satisfaction with the success of the NPP flag bearer’s campaign so far, but stressed that the membership of the party must be re-energised in this last stretch to the election.
“I am calling on all Ghanaians, particularly the NPP faithful, not to relent but to throw their weight and support behind the Dr Bawumia and Dr Opoku Prempeh ticket.

This is the only way to accelerate the development of the country,” he pointed out, saying former President John Mahama had had his term and, therefore, had nothing new to offer the country.
Sacrifices
The FoB, USA chapter chairman further called for sacrifices on the part of all party supporters to ensure victory for the NPP.
In that regard, he said the party and its support base must be visible in every corner of the country.
He said from the districts, municipalities, metropolises, constituencies, churches, mosques and also houses, the presence of the NPP must be felt as they spread the “bold solutions” being proffered by Dr Bawumia.

Mr Ofosu-Appiah, who briefly touched on the credibility of the elections, also said it behoved all stakeholders, including the Electoral Commission (EC), political parties, security agencies and civil society organisations to engage and build trust.
He, therefore, appealed to these institutions to support the EC as it worked to ensure a transparent, free and fair election on December 7, 2024.
