Help me make history - Dr Bawumia appeals to electorate

The flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has appealed to the electorate, particularly those from the northern part of the country to help him make history by electing him as the next President of Ghana.

He said if elected, he would become the first Muslim President and northerner from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to do that. He said history beckons the party in the December general election and asked the electorate to help him and the party to make that history.

Rally

Dr Bawumia made the appeal last Monday,  when he addressed party faithful during a rally in Wa as part of his constituency-focused nationwide campaign tour. During the tours, Dr Bawumia engages traditional authorities, religious and opinion leaders, the youth and all facets of society to shed more light on his vision for Ghana's future.

He said the presidency was coming to the north next as both candidates of the leading political parties were from the north.

“But if you vote for Dr Bawumia, Ghana has a chance to make history that Christians and Muslims together will make the first Muslim President of the Republic of Ghana,” he said.

He said the next election was a choice about the country's future and urged the electorate to make a choice that would guarantee their future.

Digital skills

He said one million youth would be empowered with digital skills to enable them to work remotely and be self-employed. “We are going to change Ghana and need your help on December 7 to vote for Dr Bawumia.

“We are thinking about the future and the future is about the youth,” he reiterated.

Parliamentary candidate

For her part, the NPP parliamentary aspirant for Wa Central, Hajia Humu Awudu, said it was time to bring change to the constituency by voting for her. She, therefore, called on the electorate to vote massively for her and the presidential candidate to bring more development to Wa Central.

Dr Bawumia had earlier paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of Wechiau, Naa Imoru Nandon Gomah II at the chief’s palace. Naa Gomah assured Dr Bawumia that the chiefs and people of Wa West would vote for the candidates of the NPP due to the party's sustained commitment to the development of the area over the years.

He said the NPP government since 2004 had given the district a lot of developmental projects, citing the creation of the Wa West District by the NPP government in 2004, a facelift in road projects; the free senior high school programme, as well as the school feeding programme..

He said the district was also benefitting from the government’s Agenda 111 hospital project.

Vote NPP

Dr Bawumia said voting for him and the NPP on December 7, 2024, would allow him to build upon the gains made so far under the government.

"My vision for Ghana's future will see us, among other things, train our children for the future and equip our youth with the requisite skills to create jobs and compete favourably with their contemporaries across the world," he stated.
