Impress on your supporters to eschew violence - Prophet Kyei-Duah entreats political leaders

The Founder and Leader of Believers Worship Centre, popularly known as Philadelphia Movement, Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah, has called on political leaders to impress on their supporters to eschew all acts of violence before, during and after the December 7 general election.

That, he said, was necessary to preserve the peace, unity and stability of the country. Prophet Kyei-Duah made the call in a sermon he delivered at the inauguration of the church's new 30,000-seating capacity auditorium at Katapor, a suburb of Pokuase in the Greater Accra Region last Sunday.

The ceremony attracted people from all walks of life, including prominent traditional rulers and politicians from both sides of the political divide.

Hate speech

Prophet Kyei-Duah also urged politicians from both sides of the political divide and their followers to avoid the use of hate speeches and character assassination to promote peace, national unity and cohesion ahead of the presidential and parliamentary polls.

“We should not let politics divide us as a people. Politics is all about contestation of ideas and therefore we must not use insults and intemperate language on one another that has the potential to result in violence,” he said.

Prophet Kyei-Duah emphasised the need for religious leaders not to align themselves with any political party as that practice did not only negatively affect their personalities, but their religious bodies, as well as their members who belonged to different political parties.

He cautioned Ghanaians against the use of social media to damage the hard-worn reputation of personalities.

Prophet Kyei-Duah enjoined Ghanaians to dedicate their lives to the service of the Almighty God in order to receive not only His abundant blessings and salvation but also to speed up the development of the nation.
