NDC reclaims Upper West Region
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reclaimed the Upper West Region by winning all 11 parliamentary seats in the region.
Before the Saturday, December 7, 2024 elections, the NDC was controlling eight out of the 11 seats, and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had three seats, namely Lambussie, Nandom and Sissala East.

However, after the polls, the party won back the three seats it lost to the NPP.
The NDC managed to achieve its agenda 11-11, beating the NPP to their objective of winning more seats and improving their foothold in the UWR.
The target of the NPP was to retain its three seats, add four more and increase its tally to seven. However, after the polls, the NPP failed to retain the three seats and lost all to the NDC and currently does not have any representative from the region in Parliament.
Fallen MPs
A Minister of State at the Presidency, Ambrose Dery, who is the sitting NPP Member of Parliament (MP) for Nandom, lost his seat to NDC's candidate, Dr Richard Kuu-ire, while the Deputy

The sitting MP for Lambussie, Dr Bright Y. Baligi, ceded his seat to Dr Titus Beyuo of the NDC.

Victory for Ghana
The incumbent NDC MP for Wa Central, Dr Rashid Pelpuo, who won his seat for a record sixth term in office, told the media that the overwhelming victory of the party at the polls was a victory for Ghana.
He said it was the people's way of telling the NPP government that enough was enough, and it was time to reset the system.
"It is indeed an election won for Ghana. It is Ghana against the NPP," he said.
Dr Pelpuo expressed his appreciation to the party faithful and other NPP members who found it prudent to change the government.
