Reflect on bad roads, economic difficulties to vote - Electorate urged
The Eastern Regional Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kojo Danquah, has called on the electorate in the region to reflect on the deteriorating nature of roads and the economic hardships affecting them and vote massively for the party flag bearer, John Mahama, at the December 7 general elections.
He said apart from the economic hardships, the road networks in the region were also in a deplorable state, making it very difficult for the inhabitants, especially traders of farm produce, to transport their wares to marketing centres.
Mr Danquah made the call when he addressed a news conference at Koforidua last Wednesday to highlight the deteriorating nature of roads in the region and also the economic difficulties facing the people in the area.
The event, dubbed: "Eastern Must Know Series", was attended by some regional and constituency executives of the party as well as members and sympathisers.
Mr Danquah said NPP's bad management of the economy had brought untold suffering on the people who had now lost faith and trust in the current administration.
According to Mr Danquah, the economic situation of the people in the region had worsened due to the bad state of roads in the area which had had adverse effects on the movement of both humans and goods, especially farm produce, to the markets.
Roads
Mr Danquah indicated that the bad roads could be found in all the 33 constituencies in the region and named some of them as the Asuom-Ntronang Road in the Kade Constituency, the Nkawkaw-Obomeng Road in the Nkawkaw Constituency and Otuater-Amotare-Abours Road in the Fanteakwa North Constituency.
Others, he stated, included the Koforidua-Ada-Nkurakan Road, the Akuse-Asitey-Agormanya-Kpong Roads, the Achiase-Akenkensuam-Afosu Road, the Opass Junction-Tafo Road, the Ahinase Bonkrase-Kotoso Road in the Abetifi Constituency and the Koforidua Zango town Roads in the New Juaben South Constituency.
