The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is prepared for the upcoming rerun parliamentary election in Kpandai, the party's acting Director of Elections and IT, Tanko Rashid-Computer, has said.
Speaking in an interview with the Daily Graphic, Mr Rashid-Computer dismissed claims by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the Electoral Commission (EC) should have waited for the outcome of legal processes before announcing a date for the election.
“The NPP candidate, Matthew Nyindam, is saying that we haven't exhausted the legal processes and therefore the EC should have held on with the dates for the election. They have not done any proper legal process. They are doing propaganda," Rashid-Computer said.
He explained that the NPP had filed a notice of stay of execution, but the court had not granted a stay, and the EC was therefore free to proceed with the election.
“The judge has given December 18, 2025, to make its ruling. That means there is no stay as we speak now. Nothing is arresting the orders given by the High Court," he said.
Mr Rashid-Computer accused the NPP of trying to delay the election and expressed confidence that the NDC would win the rerun election.
"We are prepared. Very much prepared. In fact, all logistics needed for our polling agents, our monitors, and coalition officers are all being assembled and ready.
By next week, you will see us there," he said.
He added, “The NDC is going to win massively come December 30.”
Matthew Nyindam
However, the former NPP Member of Parliament (MP) for Kpandai, Matthew Nyindam, in an interview, expressed confidence in his support base and vowed to contest the rerun.

“I am not worried. I am waiting for the 30th. The people of Kpandai who voted for me in the 2024 election believe that I can represent them,” he said.
He accused the NDC of orchestrating the upcoming rerun, insisting that the 2024 election was conducted fairly.
He stated that the High Court ruling that triggered the rerun was unjustified.
“I can tell you without any fear of contradiction that nothing went wrong with the election. We have gone to the Court of Appeal to challenge the ruling, but they are not allowing me to even contest the decision,” he stated.
He expressed frustration over the parliamentary seat being declared vacant prematurely, noting that cases related to the election are still pending at the Supreme Court, scheduled for December 16 and 18, 2025.
“Then the Electoral Commission comes out with a date for a rerun. You see how they have planned this. It is a planned thing,” he added, directly blaming the NDC for the alleged manipulation.
Background
The EC has scheduled the rerun of the Kpandai Constituency Parliamentary Election for Tuesday, December 30, 2025. This follows a ruling by the Tamale High Court on Monday, November 24, 2025, which ordered the rerun to take place within thirty days.
The Commission also received formal notification from the Clerk to Parliament last Monday, December 8, 2025, confirming that the parliamentary seat for Kpandai has officially become vacant.
A statement issued in Accra last Wednesday, signed by the Deputy Director of Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Department at the EC, Fred Tetteh, said the rerun of the Kpandai Constituency parliamentary election would be conducted for only the three candidates who contested the 2024 parliamentary election in the constituency.
They are Matthew Nyindam of the NPP, Daniel Nsala Wakpal of the NDC and Donkor Eric Nipani of the All People’s Congress (APC).
