A spiritualist, Togbui Professor Amuzu, has called on Ghanaians to rededicate themselves to the development of the country through hard work and patriotism.

He said the development process could only be accelerated when Ghanaians honoured their tax obligations, worked as though it was their work and reported criminal activities to the security agencies.

This was contained in his New Year message to Ghanaians at Ashaiman.

He bemoaned the situation where employees were making demands for increased salaries and improved service conditions but failed to increase productivity to commensurate with the demands they made.

While urging the government to intensify the fight against corruption, he appealed to the public not to influence public servants with  money and other materials, adding that “the fight against corruption would be successful if we all decide to do the right thing”.

“We lose so much through corrupt practices. Funds that find their way into individual pockets could be channelled into ventures that will improve health, education, infrastructure in deprived communities,” Togbi Amuzu said.

On the celebration of the New Year, he appealed to Ghanaians to be modest in their jubilation and not to indulge in activities that would compromise their health and safety.

“We must be mindful of the fact that after the celebration, there is life with all its attendant responsibilities. There are school fees to be paid, utility tariffs to settle and housekeeping needs to be taken care of,” he added.
