That, he said, would justify the confidence the people reposed in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the last election.

Town hall meeting

The deputy regional minister, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Upper Manya Krobo Constituency, was speaking at a town hall meeting organised by the Upper Manya Krobo District Assembly, in collaboration with the Ministry of Information, at Asesewa last week.

‘’The present government has not and will never forget the Upper Manya Krobo District for one thing. You made the Dangme area very proud by voting for the party for the first time in history and the NPP will also not forget what you did to bring the party into power,’’the MP said.

He said all programmes and policies being rolled out were in fulfilment of the party’s manifesto promise and it showed the government’s commitment to the people.

Mr Tetteh said he, as their MP, in collaboration with the district assembly, was taking steps to ensure that they tackled youth employment, provided potable water to communities that were in dire need of water, maintain and repaired boreholes that were not in good condition in some of the communities, helped solve the basic health needs of the people in the district, rebuild the dilapidated school buildings in the district, and graded and reshaped some of the deplorable roads in the district.

Grader is packed

‘’As some of you are aware, I have purchased a motor grader with my own money to grade, reshape and constantly maintain some of the roads which are in deplorable state pending the award of government contracts for major road works to be done. For those of you who have been to the assembly premises, the grader is parked there,’’ Mr Tetteh stressed.

The MP said all levels of education from nursery to tertiary were being given the necessary support to ensure that quality education was accessible to all Ghanaian children without discrimination.

He therefore, urged all parents to take advantage of the government’s Free Senior High School Policy to educate their childern.

The Upper Manya Krobo District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Felix Nartey Odjao, in his welcome address said town hall meetings were opportunities for the local people in the district to ask questions on issues that affected them as far as governance of the district assembly was concerned.

He,therefore, encouraged them to ask questions for clarifications and also make valuable contributions to enrich the beauty of the district’s young democracy.

Purpose of meeting

Mr Odjao said the primary purpose of the town hall meeting was to provide information to the community on the current state of affairs of the Upper Manya Krobo District Assembly in order to get feedback from the management of the assembly.

Mr Odjao therefore, cautioned participants against partisan nature of questions that would mar the beauty of the programme.
