Hanna Tetteh launches campaign for re-election
In her bid to retain the Awutu-Senya West Constituency parliamentary seat for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Member of Parliament, Madam Hanna Serwaa Tetteh, last Sunday launched her campaign to solicit votes.

The launch was also used to declare a target of 40,000, representing 65 per cent votes, for President John Mahama and Ms Serwaa Tetteh.
Progress made
Ms Serwaa Tetteh, who is also the Foreign Affairs Minister and Regional Integration, told the charged crowd that a lot of development projects had been undertaken by the government that had brought relief to the people in the various communities in the district.
She noted that the constituency had had its share of development projects and that more would be executed by the NDC to alleviate the plights of the people and added that “more opportunities would be offered to the people to better their lot.”
Ms Tetteh said the NDC under President Mahama had offered good leadership for the past four years and that it was necessary for the party to begin another term to enable it to build upon its foundation towards the transformation of the country.
House-to-house campaign
She charged party faithful to embark upon a house-to-house campaign to sell the achievements of the NDC towards its re-election, stressing that all hands must be on deck to prosecute an effective electioneering.
“I urge you all gathered here to go out and preach the NDC’s gospel to the electorate to influence them to vote massively for the NDC in the December polls,” she added.
In a response to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP’s) campaign promise to give US$ 1 million to each constituency each year, she indicated that the promise was already happening in her area, saying that the area has attracted a lot of projects worth more than what the NPP is promising.

She admonished NDC supporters not to be deceived by the vain promises of the NPP but to rather keep faith with the NDC in its quest to change the lives of Ghanaians.

The Awutu Senya District Chief Executive, Mr Sampson Abbey Armah, reminded the gathering of the achievements of the NDC in the district, especially with regard to the establishment of new senior high schools at Bontrase and Bawjiase.
According to him, the government has improved electricity coverage in the district from 53 per cent in 2012 to 97 per cent with an assurance that the remaining communities will be connected to the national grid in the second term of the NDC.
He assured the people that the Bawjiase market project would be completed by December, while work on the Bawjiase to Swedru road project would begin in earnest.

In a welcome address, the Constituency Chairman, Mr Simon Duodu, appealed to branch executives and all party members to campaign vigorously to deliver a resounding victory for the NDC in the upcoming polls.
