I will rejuvenate NDC youth for victory - Nudokpo

A deputy youth national organiser-aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bright Nudokpo, has said his vision, when  given the nod, will be to equip and rejuvenate the youth of the party at all levels towards victory in the 2020 polls.

That, he said, was against the backdrop that the youth constituted one of the critical resources of any political party or nation, considering their numbers, vitality, potential and capabilities as change agents for political power and national transformation.

“It is my vision to equip and rejuvenate the youth at every level of the party to work towards victory 2020 and beyond by working in partnership with the youth, the grass roots, the executive, the foot soldiers, TEIN, cadres, the academia, the business environment and the international community to strive for excellence in meeting the needs of the NDC members and the ordinary Ghanaians,” he said.

Mr Nudokpo was speaking to the Daily Graphic following his confirmation by the Vetting Committee to contest the upcoming polls of the party for the position of national deputy youth organiser.

Attaining political power

Mr Nudokpo’s mantra towards ensuring victory, he said, was “an empowered youth contributing positively to attaining political power and national development”, stressing that, “I pledge myself to the service of the NDC youth wing and the grass roots with all my strength and with all my heart.”

For him, examination of the plausible reasons for the party’s defeat in the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections was over.

He said lessons had been drawn for guidance in future election strategies and that the 2018 youth conference of the party, scheduled to take place at the Pentecost Convention Centre at Kasoa, would mark the beginning of a new era of progressive politics in Ghana only if the delegates elected independent-minded youth leaders who understood the problems at the grassroots level.

According to him, the NDC would re-commit itself to the restructuring of the Ghanaian society in a democratic manner.

Under a new NDC, he said, there would be “social justice, opportunity for all, responsibility from all and community for all”.

Mobilising and uniting the youth for victory

Mr Nudokpo posited that he was committed to mobilising and uniting the youth front to recover their lost grounds in the 2016 election, which was a result of deception, unrealistic and unachievable promises made with regard to the economy, free senior high school, jobs for all and zero tolerance for corruption.

He maintained that he had a firm belief that the NDC would win the 2020 election if it paid special attention to the youth and the grass roots and for that matter, pledged that he would protect the interest of all and not the interest of any section of people.

“The system has failed the youth and I am ready to fight the system to revive and re-energise the youth wing from  Upper West to Salaga South, Sefwi Wiaso to Pru West, Volta North to Akasti South through to Aflao and the diaspora,” he said.

He said never would the NDC neglect its youth and the grass roots again, adding that when elected as the deputy national youth organiser, he would ensure that inadequate opportunities for the party’s youth organisers, party foot soldiers and the grass roots were a thing of the past.
