Kennedy Agyapong will end youth migration for jobs abroad — Dr Ampaabeng

A former Deputy Minister of Finance and member of Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign team, Dr Alex Ampaabeng, has urged Ghanaians to rally behind the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, describing him as the only candidate with the courage and practical vision to end the country’s youth unemployment crisis.

Addressing the media during Mr Agyapong’s campaign tour of the Volta Region, Dr Ampaabeng expressed deep concern over the growing number of Ghanaian youth risking their lives in search of greener pastures abroad.

He said the increasing cases of young people crossing the Sahara Desert and the Mediterranean Sea to reach Europe or the Middle East were a tragic reflection of the country’s economic challenges.

“It is heartbreaking to see our young men dying in the desert and our young women suffering as housemaids in some Arab countries, where many face mistreatment and unimaginable hardship,” Dr Ampaabeng lamented. “This must stop — and it will stop with Kennedy Agyapong.”

He explained that Kennedy Agyapong’s economic blueprint, known as Kenomics, provides a practical pathway to tackling youth unemployment through industrialisation, entrepreneurship, and value addition. According to him, the plan is designed to stimulate job creation across multiple sectors and empower young people to contribute meaningfully to the national economy.

“Youth unemployment rests with Ken,” he declared. “He understands what it means to build from nothing. His leadership will empower local industries, open factories, and create jobs that restore dignity to the Ghanaian youth.”

Dr Ampaabeng said Mr Agyapong’s vision aims to transform Ghana from an import-driven economy to a production-based one, adding that every region, including the Volta Region, will benefit from decentralised industrial growth and investment.

“Ken believes our youth are not lazy; they are simply waiting for leadership that believes in them,” he said. “With his honesty, discipline, and vision, Ghana will finally become a land of opportunity for its own children.”

Dr Ampaabeng concluded his remarks with a passionate appeal, calling for unity and hope in the quest to build a more self-reliant nation. “The days of our young men dying in the desert and our young women suffering abuse abroad must end,” he said. “With Kennedy Agyapong, that painful story will be history. Ghana will rise again — strong, united, and full of opportunity for its youth.”
