LIST: See all the polling stations for the Ayawaso East parliamentary by-election
With just hours left until voters in the Ayawaso East Constituency head to the polls, the Electoral Commission has published the complete breakdown of polling stations and voter numbers for the hotly contested by-election scheduled for March 3, 2026.
The by-election was necessitated by the untimely passing of the sitting Member of Parliament, Mahama Naser Toure, who died in January while receiving treatment at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. His death left a parliamentary seat vacant in a constituency that has historically been a battleground for political dominance in the Greater Accra Region.
According to the official list of polling stations obtained by GraphicOnline, a total of 113 polling stations have been designated across the constituency, accommodating thousands of registered voters. The document, titled "2026 AYAWASO EAST PARLIAMENTARY BY ELECTION LIST OF POLLING STATIONS," provides a granular view of where voting will take place, ranging from basic schools and churches to military installations and private residences.
The polling stations are spread across various landmarks in the constituency, including educational facilities such as the Kanda Estate 2 and 3 Primary School, which will host two polling stations with a combined voter count of 1,004. Religious centres also feature prominently, with the Nurudeen Islamic School in Ruga and the Assemblies of God Church both set to receive hundreds of voters.
Notably, several polling stations are located within the 37 Military Hospital, including the Officers Mess and the Day Care Centre, each split into multiple streams to manage voter traffic. At the Officers Mess 37 Military Hospital 1, for instance, two streams—coded C080302A and C080302B—will serve 475 and 474 voters respectively.
In the Nima enclave, which forms a significant part of the constituency, polling stations have been established at locations such as the Frankies Down H/No 77/10, which has the highest voter count of 716, and the Old Alaska Cinema Hall, which will accommodate 644 voters. Other unique venues include the Yellow House at 187/15 Nima, split into multiple streams, and the Alaska 11 Video Centre, reflecting the constituency's dense and diverse urban fabric.
The total number of registered voters across the constituency, as indicated in the document, sums to 52,232. This figure is derived from the cumulative totals listed against each polling station code.
The by-election has attracted significant political interest, with five candidates vying for the seat. Following the balloting on Thursday, February 12, 2026, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate Baba Jamal drew the top spot on the ballot paper. He will be challenged by Ibrahim Iddrisu of the Liberal People’s Party (LPP) in the second position, Yussif Baba Ali of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the third, and independent candidates Alhaji Mohammed Umaru Sanda and David Kannor in the fourth and fifth positions respectively.
As the political temperature rises, residents and party agents are being urged to familiarise themselves with the designated polling stations to ensure a smooth voting process on March 3.
