Massive infrastructural development in 2014 — Prez
The government will embark on massive infrastructural development this year, President John Dramani Mahama has announced.

He mentioned railway line network, airport, ports, schools, health centres, housing and roads as some of the areas to witness significant expansion this year.
President Mahama was answering questions from journalists at a press conference to mark the first anniversary of his term in office at the Flagstaff House in Accra yesterday.
The press conference held on the theme: "One Year of Responsible, Transparent and Accountable Governance" was attended by more than 80 journalists, including editors and hosts of radio and television programmes.
In attendance were Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, the Chief of Staff, Mr Proper Douglas Bani, senior presidential advisors, ministers of state and other government appointees.
Railway line network
The President said the government would develop the railway line network to facilitate the movement of people and goods.
The railway line network would link major towns to ease traffic on the roads, he said.
President Mahama said the construction of the first batch of 50 of the 200 promised community day senior high schools would commence this year.

He said the model designs had been concluded, while the various sites had been identified and earmarked for the project.
Airports/ports/roads
President Mahama said the Kotoka International Airport, the Tamale and Kumasi airports would be given face-lifts.
The construction of four aerodromes in the Upper East, Volta, Central and Eastern regions would begin this year, he said.
The President said the Tema and Takoradi ports would see massive expansion this year.
“The Eastern Corridor Road Project and other major road projects would be pursued vigorously,” he said.
Housing
The President said he intended to hold a meeting with financial experts to advise him on mortgage financing.
He said many people spent about 15 years to build a house, which came at a higher cost.
Therefore, he said, it was better to arrange mortgage facilities for people to own houses.
President Mahama indicated that the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) had taken over about 5,000 affordable housing units started by the Kufuor administration.
He said SSNIT would offer the houses to interested people and institutions after they had been completed.
