In an interview with the Daily Graphic at Akwatia last Monday, Madam Ama Sey said she would team up with the President-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa  Akufo-Addo, to create employment for the numerous unemployed youth.

She stressed that with the collapse of the Ghana Consolidated Diamonds (GCD), which was the main source of employment, the people in the constituency were facing a serious unemployment problem in the area.

Major preoccupation

According to Madam Sey, her major preoccupation, therefore, was how to find a lasting solution to the unemployment problem in the constituency.

She also promised that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, led by Nana Akufo-Addo, would rehabilitate the deplorable roads in the area which had been neglected by the outgoing National Democratic Congress (NDC) regime to bring relief to residents.

Touching on the insults rained on her by Mr Mohammed Ahmed Baba Jamal, her competitor in the December 7, 2016 parliamentary election during the electioneering, she said that was a contributory factor to the latter’s humiliating defeat at the polls.

Madam Ama Sey emphasised that the outstanding performance she would put up in the next four years as a legislator would compel Baba Jamal to retire from active politics.

She stated that she was grateful to the omniscient God, members of her campaign team, the constituency executive, especially the Chairman, Mr Baba Yakubu, aka Baba Yenkro, for their contribution to her electoral victory.

The MP-elect stressed that she would not disappoint the people in the constituency, adding that her doors were always open to them to share their concerns and to discuss issues relating to development in the area.
