Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka's appointment is an addition to President Mahama’s key ministerial nominees aimed at strengthening security, law enforcement, and internal governance in the country.

Political career

Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka has represented the Asawase Constituency in the Ashanti Region since 2005. Throughout his time in Parliament, he has served in several important roles, including as the Minister for Youth and Sports in President John Atta Mills’ administration.

Following his tenure in the sports ministry, he continued to be an influential voice in Parliament, where he has served on several committees, including the Foreign Affairs Committee.

Educational background

Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka was born on January 1, 1975, in Asawase, Ghana. He attended the University of Ghana, where he earned a degree in Political Science.

Before his foray into politics, he worked in various roles in public service, including as an executive in the National Youth Council.

A focus on internal security

As Minister for the Interior designate, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak will be tasked with ensuring that Ghana’s law enforcement and security systems are aligned with the country’s goals of stability, peace, and national development.

His experience in leadership and national governance positions him to address the increasing need for coordinated action in the country’s fight against internal threats, crime, and human trafficking.

The Ministry for the Interior plays a pivotal role in overseeing the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Fire Service, and the Prisons Service, and Muntaka’s appointment has been met with optimism. His focus on community safety and national security will be essential in ensuring the protection of citizens.
