Gen Mosquito bites Prez Mahama's challenger, says NDC nominations forms opened to people of sound mind only

The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has asked all party supporters desiring to contest in the party's presidential race to carefully weigh themselves before declaring the intent.

He says apart from requirements imposed by the party, including one's membership of the NDC for no less than 10 years, the 1992 Constitution of Ghana also imposes additional requirements, such as a minimum age of 40 years and the need for the person to be of sound mind.

Asiedu Nketia, also called General Mosquito, who was speaking at the party headquarters Thursday when Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur picked nominations forms for President John Mahama, said the purported sale of presidential forms to one George Boateng was fraudulent and of no effect because no official forms have been issued to him.

George Boateng is the Youth Organizer at the party’s Oyarifa branch in Accra.

But according to General Mosquito, the forms given  to Boateng had been faked because while he (Mosquito) had at all times been in charge of the nominations forms and had not issued any to anyone, the party's national treasurer who should also confirm payment for the forms by anyone, had no such records. Consequently, he said party employees behind the issuance of the faked forms, have been "disciplined".

He also explained that merely obtaining photocopies of the forms does not mean anything as the original forms in triplicate would have to be returned to the party before close of nominations for vetting.
