NPP set to launch manifesto at Tamale Sports Stadium

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP)  is set to launch its manifesto for the 2016 general election at the Tamale Sports Stadium on October 8, 2016.

The manifesto will be launched by the presidential candidate of the party for Election 2016, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, at the 20,000 capacity Tamale Sports Stadium.

The Northern Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr Daniel Bugri Naabu, disclosed this during an interaction with journalists in Tamale.

He said the choice of Tamale as the venue for the launch of the party's manifesto was based on the current massive support the party enjoys in the Northern Region, which is perceived to be a stronghold of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The regional chairman added that Tamale was also chosen based on the fact that the party had, since the 2012 general election, made a lot of inroads in the region and also to tell the people of northern Ghana that the party was for them.

He said another reason was to reward NPP supporters in the region for their loyalty and steadfastness.

He said it was also based on the fact that the party was able to increase its parliamentary seats from three to 10 in the 2012 election, adding that the party wanted to build on the successes chalked up in the region during the 2012 election.

Target

Mr Naabu stated that, based on the current inroads made by the NPP in the Northern Region, it had targeted to increase its parliamentary seats from 10 to not less than 25 and also double its presidential votes from 350,000 in 2012 to not less than 600,000 votes for Nana Akufo-Addo.

To achieve that set target, he appealed to party activists in the region to intensify their campaign to let the message of the party resonate with the people at the grass roots to enable them to vote massively for the NPP in the upcoming election.

"Don't let us disappoint the  people of the Northern Region. I am, therefore, calling on all party faithfuls in the region to go all out to canvass for votes for the NPP and help rescue Ghanaians from the current economic hardships visited on them by the incompetent NDC administration," he stated.

Boot for boot

Mr Naabu observed that the party was determined to achieve the set target by marching the NDC boot for boot in the region and would not leave any stone unturned.

He called on all members of the party to close their ranks and come together to work hard to win the general election.
