Speaking to the Daily Graphic after she picked her nomination form last Wednesday, Madam Djaba pledged her commitment to empower more young women to take up leadership positions in the party in future when re-voted.

Madam Djaba was among 46 members of the NPP who picked nominations forms on Wednesday, January 29, to contest the various positions at the national level of the party.

With women constituting the greater portion of the country’s population, Madam Djaba said she would get more women to join the party and equip them to be weapons of winning the electorate for the NPP in the next presidential elections.

“I will build an energetic, vibrant, dynamic and competitive women force of the NPP that will be a tool for winning elections when given the mandate to complete what I have started,” she stated.

Currently, the women’s organiser of the NPP said she had already set a standard for women organisers in the party and intended to leave a legacy.

For instance, she said a programme to get female porters (kakayei), disabled women, among other women groups in the society into the women force of the NPP would be intensified to have more of them associating with the party.

She also mentioned that training workshops for women organisations in the party would be enhanced and organised at the constituency levels, instead of the regional, when given the mandate again.

Madam Djaba said the women would be trained to enable them to generate their own incomes, and as encouraged  to take leadership roles at the party and national level.

“I have been tried and tested, and with the experiences gained over the last four years, I believe I have more to offer the women’s wing of the NPP to elevate it to another dimension,” she stated.

According to Madam Djaba, women were knowledgeable; therefore, they should be given the needed platform to exhibit their potential during national discourse
