‘Political parties must co-ordinate at local level

 

Effective coordination among the various political parties at the local level is the surest way to guarantee development in those areas.

The Omanhene of the Asante-Mampong Traditional Area, Daasebre Osei Bonsu 11, who stated that, therefore, called on members of the political parties  within the constituencies, wards and polling stations to put aside their party affiliations and fully support programmes meant to enhance the total development of their areas.

New MCE

Daasebre Osei Bonsu said that when the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Mampong, Mr Mohammed Kwadwo Abuasu, was formally introduced to him, the queen mother and the other chiefs during the Akwasidae festival.

The new MCE was accompanied by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Mampong, Mr Francis Addai-Nimoh; the outgoing MCE, Mr Daniel Appau Ohyiamang;  assembly members, members and supporters of both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

After Mr Ohyiamang had completed serving his four-year tenure, President, John Dramani Mahama nominated Mr  Abuasu, who was endorsed by all assembly members. Daasebre Osei Bonsu told the gathering that all  the parties within  his traditional area belonged to him and, therefore, he had a say when any of the parties was involved in any development that had the potential to create chaos and anarchy.

Traditional council

Daasebre Osei Bonsu assured them that the traditional council would continue to work with the assembly for the mutual and the sustainable development of the area.

He commended the outgoing MCE, Mr Ohyiamang, and the MP, Mr Addai-Nimoh, for their good working relationship despite their different political ideologies. 

Daasebre Osei Bonsu urged the new one to do same  for the betterment and development of Mampongman.

Mr Abuasu, for his part, thanked Daasebre Osei Bonsu for the counsel, and assured the traditional council that he would continue from where his predecessor left off.

Assurance

He gave an assurance that, together with his assembly members, he would formulate pragmatic development programmes to accelerate the development of the area.

Mr Abuasu  promised to work with the MP, and urged all to rally behind them in their quest to transform the fortunes of the people in the municipality

Mr Addai-Nimoh, for his part, also promised to work with the new MCE to promote the development of the area.

Mr Addai-Nimoh noted that there was no difference between the NDC and the NPP in the  rank and file of their supporters.

He further suggested that it was time members of the two parties realised the need to patch up their differences in the mutual good of the nation.
