Presz tasks Ministers to be accountable

The Ministers were Mr Samuel K. Sarpong for Ashanti Region, Mr Ebenezer Kwodowo Teye Addo for Central Region and Mr Bede Ziedeng for Upper West Region.

The others were Ministers of State at the Presidency, namely Dr Major (Rtd.) Mustapha Ahmed, Mr Alhassan Azong, Mr Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, Mr Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, Mrs Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe Ghansah and Alhaji Limuna Mohammed Muniru.

President Mahama administered the oaths of allegiance, Minister of State and secrecy to the ministers.

Thereafter, the ministers signed the oath book.

President Mahama then presented the scrolls of office to the Ministers of State, who were accompanied by their family members and friends.

The swearing in of the nine ministers of state brought to 37 the total number of ministers of state sworn in so far.

President Mahama reminded the Ministers of State that the expectation of Ghanaians were high.


He, therefore, charged the Ministers to think outside the box to support in prosecuting the government's agenda.

On the position of the Minister of State at the Presidency, President Mahama said the presidency had several departments and agencies under it.

He, therefore, said, the Ministers of State at the Presidency would be responsible for those ministries.

The President said despite the appointment of the Ministers of State at the Presidency, his government was one of the smallest compared to previous Ministers of State.

Mr Pelpuo, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues thanked the President for the confidence reposed in them.

He gave the assurance that they would abide by the constitution and go according to the dictates of the President to bring about development in the country.
