Professor Nana Ama Browne Klutse has expressed gratitude following her appointment as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of Ghana. Her appointment comes at a critical time for the nation’s environmental future.
The announcement was made on Saturday, 18 January 2025.
In a heartfelt post on her X account, Prof. Klutse thanked President John Dramani Mahama for entrusting her with the responsibility.
"I am deeply grateful to John Mahama for entrusting me with the role of Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection Agency, Ghana," she wrote.
She emphasised the magnitude of the environmental challenges facing Ghana, including air quality concerns, the devastating impacts of climate change, and the urgent need to improve waste management systems.
Prof. Klutse’s appointment comes at a time when environmental sustainability has taken centre stage in national discourse as the country is threatened by the effects of illegal mining on its waterbodies.
"I am committed to working closely with all stakeholders to find practical solutions that ensure a healthier and more sustainable future for our country," she stated, highlighting the importance of collaboration in addressing these pressing issues.
Her leadership is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing Ghana’s environmental protection efforts, with a focus on practical and impactful solutions that benefit both the environment and the citizens.
