Professionals for Change storms Zongo communities
Professionals for Change, an advocacy group sympathetic to the flag bearer of New Patriotic Party (NPP), has pledged its support for volunteer groups that share a common vision of liberating Ghana from the “tyranny of the Mahama/Amissah-Arthur administration”.
“The group considers its patriotic duty, where feasible, to support other volunteer groups that share a common vision of arresting the decline of the economy brought about by rampant corruption, thievery, incompetence and insensitivity of the Mahama administration,” one of the leaders of the group, Mr Kofi Ofosu, has stated.
A press release issued by the group and signed by Mr Ofosu said as one of the most vibrant volunteer groups in the 2016 NPP Campaign, Professionals for Change would continue to share Nana Addo’s message of hope with Ghanaians.
Zongo communities
The group has targeted the Zongo communities and has committed itself to go into the various Zongos to sell its candidate, Nana Addo, to the electorate, according to leading members of the group.
He explained that to make the objective a reality, Professionals for Change had formed a sub-group, Zongo Ladies for Nana, to help spearhead their efforts in the various Zongo communities.
Mr Ofosu said Zongo Ladies for Nana was made up of young NPP ladies who lived in Zongo communities.
He said the Zongo Ladies would now serve as party ambassadors in their communities by explaining party policies and programmes to people in the Zongos.
Since its creation a few months ago, Mr Ofosu said, the Zongo group had collaborated with its mother group, Professionals for Change, to storm various Zongos in the Greater Accra Region, and shared with residents the NPP’s vision for Zongo communities.
Development fund
The vision for the Zongo includes the Zongo Development Fund and vocational training programmes.
Some of the communities visited so far, he said, included Sukura, Agbogbloshie, New town, Madina Zongo, Ashaiman Zongo, Afienya Zongo, among others.
Mr Ofosu said Professionals for Change was made up of professionals from all walks of life who had dedicated their time and resources to support the NPP's campaign and work for change.
Since its creation in March 2016, he said, the group had undertaken many outreach programmes, reaching out to the poor and marginalised, and providing support to the needy in the Greater Accra, Central, Eastern, Brong Ahafo, Ashanti and Volta regions of Ghana.
Drivers for change
He said other groups affiliated to the professionals were Drivers for Change and Kayaye for Change.
Buoyed by the success of its outreach activities and goodwill generated, Mr Ofosu stated that the group considered it a patriotic duty to support other volunteer groups that shared a common vision of arresting the decline of the economy brought about by rampant corruption, thievery, incompetence and insensitivity of the Mahama administration.
To this end, Mr Ofosu said the group had provided financial and logistic support to Loyal Ladies, Mums4change, Youth4Change, Volta4Change and Action Club of Hohoe.
Mr Ofosu said with barely two months to the election, Professionals for Change had intensified its campaign to assist in liberating Ghana from the “tyranny of the Mahama/Amissah-Arthur administration and replace them with the visionary and competent leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo and Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia”.
