Rashid Pelpuo honoured

 

The Minister of State in charge of Private Sector Development, Alhaji Rashid Pelpuo, has stated that the government will continue to create a conducive environment for the private sector to thrive.

He added that under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) policy, the government would also partner the private sector to quicken the country’s economic growth.

Alhaji Pelpuo was speaking at a ceremony in Accra during which he was honoured by the University College of Community and Organisational Development, Ghana. He was adjudged the organisation development personality for 2013 for his interest in the development of the private sector.

He stated that the country’s development had reached a stage where the public and private sectors had to see themselves as collaborators and not separate institutions with different economic agenda.

Alhaji Pelpuo added that the state would continue to play its role as expected to enable the private sector gain confidence to pursue its interest which would trickle down to ensure economic development.

The President of university, Mr Gabriel Benarkuu said the institution, which was sited in Sunyani, ran courses in Executive Certificate in Emotional Intelligence and Leadership, Certified Organisational Development and Political Leadership, Executive Mastery in Development Advocacy and Mastery in Consultancy, among others.It is affiliated to the University of Development Studies in Tamale and other universities abroad.

He stated that in the coming years, the university would collaborate with the government to see how government appointees and heads of institutions could be trained to enable them to properly run their institutions to the benefit the country.

Mr Benarkuu said already, the university had students from so many countries and expressed the hope that its intended collaboration with the government would ensure proper organisational development needed to enhance the smooth collaboration between the public and private sector. 

He asked both private and public sector institutions to see themselves as institutions pursuing a common agenda in the interest of the country.

Mr Benakuu thanked Alhaji Pelpuo for his interest in the growth of the university and gave an assurance that measures were being put in place to let the university attract more students from Ghana and other countries.
