Remain calm, GH¢50million bail bond intentionally imposed to keep Wontumi in custody indefinitely - Bawumia to NPP supporters
Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on Friday evening called on supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to remain calm as efforts were being made to execute the bail conditions granted to Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who is being investigated on suspicion of money laundering and causing financial loss to the state.
That was after spending more than 30 minutes at the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) headquarters, where the Ashanti Regional Chairman was being held.
Dr Bawumia described the GH¢50million bail bond set by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) as exorbitant and intentionally imposed to keep Chairman Wontumi in custody indefinitely.
“Remain calm and don't take the law into your own hands. We are following due process to make sure we execute the bail,” Dr Bawumia told the supporters.
He was in the company of the Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, some members of Parliament (MP) and NPP leaders.
