Schedule: See the nominees to be vetted by Parliament today
The Appointments Committee of Parliament will continue its vetting process today, Monday, 20 January 2025, for President John Dramani Mahama’s ministerial nominees.
The vetting sessions are part of Parliament’s constitutional duty to assess the qualifications and suitability of individuals selected to lead various ministries.
Nominees scheduled for today’s session include:
- Kwame Governs Agbodza: Minister-Designate for Roads and Highways
- Haruna Iddrisu: Minister-Designate for Education
- Eric Opoku: Minister-Designate for Food and Agriculture
The vetting sessions will take place in Committee Rooms 1, 2, and 3 of the New Administration Block and are expected to begin at 8:30 am.
The Appointments Committee, chaired by Mr Bernard Ahiafor, has already vetted three nominees in prior sessions: Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, Minister-Designate for Finance; Mr John Abdulai Jinapor, Minister-Designate for Energy; and Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, Attorney-General and Minister-Designate for Justice.
Tomorrow’s vetting, scheduled for Tuesday, 21 January 2025, will include Ahmed Ibrahim, Minister-Designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs; Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Minister-Designate for Gender, Children, and Social Protection; and Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister-Designate for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry.
The Committee is expected to complete the vetting process for all nominees by Monday, January 27, 2025. This rigorous exercise underscores Parliament’s commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in the selection of public officials.
