Sekyere South Assembly endorses appointee
All 49 assembly members of the Sekyere South District in the Ashanti Region voted en bloc to unanimously confirm Madam Katherine Reckling as the new District Chief Executive (DCE).

There was spontaneous jubilation in the hall when supporters got the hint after voting and sorting of ballots that there was no dissenting vote among the 49 assembly members.
Just before voting commenced, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Simon Osei-Mensah, noted that he was confident the assembly members were going to vote overwhelmingly for Madam Reckling but reminded her that the endorsement meant they were seeking her cooperation.
He said it would be an act of bad faith and a stab in the back if after endorsing her she turned her back on them and refused to cooperate with the assembly members for the development of the district.
He admonished the incoming DCE to reciprocate the gesture by ensuring that the assembly members got a fair share of development for their various electoral areas.
Act
Mr Osei-Mensah urged the DCE to read and be conversant with the Act of Parliament governing the activities and management of the district assembly.
That, he explained, would guide her dealings, make her successful and also help realise the vision of the President to bring progress and development to the doorstep of the people.
He also urged the assembly members to do same to avoid conflict in the assembly.
