Upper West NDC prepares for Election 2016
Feverish preparations are underway in the Upper West Region to get the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ready for Election 2016.

In connection with this, the party scheduled a meeting with all stakeholders on Tuesday for an exercise that had already taken the national leadership round eight regions.
The Regional Organiser of the NDC, Mr Adams Issahaqu, told the Daily Graphic that the party was going through a biometric exercise to register all its members in order to have a "credible" database.
He added that the biometric registration would pave the way to broaden the electoral college during the forthcoming congress.
Last year, former President Jerry John Rawlings, who is the founder of the party, called for “urgent” reforms in order for the party to position itself in good stead ahead of Election 2016.
“I do not think the necessary reforms required to clean up the image of the party are being treated with the urgency they require,” former President Rawlings lamented last year during the Deza.
He added: “If we do not act quickly in cleaning up the party, we will, as I have warned before, face a problem in 2016.”
Mr Issahaqu pointed out that the NDC was on course with its constitutional reforms and that “the reforms will result in the creation of a universal membership suffrage which will replace the electoral college of the party.”

The NDC is expected to go to congress later in the year to elect new executive members based on the new constitution.
The Upper West regional organiser said although the time-table for the constituency elections had not yet been released, vigorous campaigns were going to get the people battle-ready.
He said prospective candidates for the various positions had started displaying their posters at vantage points.
Mr Issahaqu was happy that the various campaigns were going on peacefully without any intimidation.
