Bechem grabs Telfer

Bechem United have captured former Ghanaian starlet, David Telfer, for an undisclosed fee to help the club in their preparation for the continental football next season.

The 27-year-old former Ashgold player becomes the third player that the Brong Ahafo-based side has signed this season with the club expected to sign more players.

His signing is in anticipation of a massive transfer of some of the senior players, including the skipper and his deputy and the goalkeeper, all of whom are eyeing a move to the Thai league.

Telfer’s presence is expected to bolster the midfield of the FA Cup champions, who are playing in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.

Telfer, who played for the Meteors in 2007, was on loan to the Free State Stars in South Africa in 2008 before moving to CSCA Rapid Chisinau also on loan between 2010 -2011 in Moldova.

Meanwhile, newly-signed Ahmed Toure and Daniel Egyin have reported to camp ahead of the team’s pre-season preparation while goal poacher, Abednego Tetteh, is expected to join the rest of the team next week.

Abednego, who was said to have gone public with some money owed him from winning the FA Cup has since apologised and was ready to join his colleagues in camp next week.

He told Graphic Sports yesterday that he had asked permission to report to training next week but denied making any such pronouncement which nearly landed him in trouble.

He said he was just chatting with a friend journalist on a confidential matter and, therefore, was surprised the person went public with it and this he described as unprofessional on the part of the journalist.

Coach of the team, Manuel Zacharias who was also having problems with the team and gone AWOL is reported to have extended his deal with the club after pressure mounted on him to consider himself fired if the club failed to hear from him by the end of last week.
