Kotoko wallop Serbian club 5-0 to lift birthday cup
One of Asante Kotoko new signings, Theopilus Nyame, scored his first goal for the club as the Porcupine Warriors romped to a 5-0 victory over visibly tired Serbian side, Jagodina, to climax Kotoko's 80th anniversary celebration.
Jagodina, last minute substitutes after two other failed attempts, arrived 14 hours to the start of the match following flight connection difficulties from Istanbul to Accra.
Indeed, the visitors could secure seats for only 11 of their 23 players and touched down at the Kotoka International Airport without their luggage.
The organisers, Pacific Football Ghana, had to arrange for kits and help beef up the squad with some local players.
Kotoko took advantage of the situation to score three quick first half goals and added two in the second half to completely decimate the Serbians who are currently lying 14th in the Serbian 16-club league.
Eric Donkor scored twice, one in each half (32nd, 58th) while Nyame (12th minute), Amos Frimpong, 15th, and Dauda Mohammed, 61st, added their names to the scoresheet before their ecstatic home fans.
