Lawal wins Eastern Regional Footnall Association election

Mr A. G. Lawal has been elected Chairman of the Eastern Region Football Association by delegates following election last Saturday, the GFA website has reported.
Lawal polled 147 of the votes to beat Nana Budu, who had 17, during elections in Koforidua supervised by Ghana's Electoral Commission.
He will, thus serve on the executive committee of the GFA.
Out of 172 delegates present, 164 voted while eight abstained.
The position had been left vacant since the term of the previous chairman ended and the election delayed because of a protracted legal battle.
The courts last week ordered the FA to organise the elections while it was slapped with GHc 40,000 fine for contempt.
