Panthers were reduced to 10 men when Rafael Djebtah was shown the exit by referee Adbul Kambia of Sierra Leone for a bad tackle on a Medeama player.

Youngster Kwame Boahene opened the scores for the Tarkwa-based side which had beaten the Panthers 2-0 in the first leg played last week in the Equitorial Guinean city of Malabo.

Striker Godbless Asamoah added the second on 87th minute to put the Ghanaians on the path of qualification.

Panthers, led  by Ghanaian International Bernard Don Bortey, launched intense assault on the Ghanaians and succeeded in creating anxious moments for Medeama in the early stages of the game,

Bortey, indeed, nearly stunned the homesters with a goal in their early runs but goalkeeper Muntari Tagoe quickly scooped the goalbound shot on the line..

Cheered on by their fans, Medeama moved into the driving seat and in the 44th minut were awarded a penalty kick, but was wasted by Kabiru Imoro.

Both teams resumed the second half strongly but it was  Godbless Asamoah who added his name to the score sheet when he brilliantly connected a pass from Theophilus Anobah on 87th minute.

In Dakar, Ghana’s other representatives, Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs, also  reached the next round stage in the CAF Confederation Cup when they held   Senegalese side, Jaraaf to a goalless drawn game last Saturday.

But Dwarfs qualified courtesy the 1-0  advantage they secured at the Robert Mensah stadium in Cape Coast last week.

The Cape Coast lads  will play the winner of the Petro Atletico (Angola) vrs African Stars (Namibia) second leg match on Sunday.
