Waris strikes winner for Valenciennes

Abdul Majeed Waris struck the winner two minutes from time as Valenciennes earned a morale-boosting win over Nice to keep their survival hopes alive in the French top-flight.

The goal was Waris’ second since his move to to France from Spartak Moscow as Valenciennes continue their fight against relegation.

Valenciennes took the lead through Tongo Doumbia early in the first half only for Neal Maupay to to equalize early in the second half.

The game seemed to be heading for another disappointing draw for Ariel Jacobs’ side until  the diminutive Ghanaian hit man struck to seal an all important win.
