Women's League resumes with dicey duels

There will be a lot to play for as clubs either strive to retain their winning form or wake up from their slumber as the National Women's League (NWL) resumes this weekend.

Even though clubs like Police Ladies, Hasaacas Ladies Fabulous Ladie and Ashtown Ladies were dominating in the league standings, the competition had been a very keen one with the other challenging clubs pushing to also move up.

The pressure is expected to pile as the teams return to action, with particularly, the clubs who lost on the last day of the first round, hoping to get good results.

The spotlight will be at the Wesley College Park tomorrow when Fabulous Ladies host rivals, Ashtown Ladies.

Unlike in the first season where Fabulous Ladies were runaway leaders at this time, the second season has seen a stern challenge from Ashtown who are neck-and-neck on points with Fabulous and are seperated only on goals.

When they met in the first round, it ended goalless and Ashtown will be hoping to have a similar favourable result at the Wesco Park.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies who earned a surprise 5-2 away win against Oforikrom Ladies look forward to another good result when they host the second round tie at the Ohene Ameyaw Park at Techiman on Sunday.

Sharp Arrows will, however, have to lift their game and play above themselves in front of their home fans at Bolga if they are to overturn their 0-7 loss they suffered at the hands of Prisons Ladies in the first round.

Down south, there will be as much pressure on Hasaacas as there is on Immigration Ladies to do better than they did in the first round.
