Yahaya going nowhere - Aduana

League title chasers Aduana Stars have declined to release their top marksman Yahaya Mohammed to Mexican side Murciélagos FC and other potential suitors despite claims by the player that the deal has almost been finalised and he could be heading for the Mexican second-tier side soon.

The offensive midfielder, who finished the first round of Ghana’s Premier League as the competition’s leading scorer with 11 goals, has been on the radar of a number of clubs, including Accra Hearts of Oak and Ivorian champions ASEC Mimosas. However, Murciélagos F.C. claimed on their website last week that they had concluded a deal for the Ghanaian star.

Last Wednesday, Mohammed told the Graphic Sports in a telephone conversation that he was confident about making a switch from the Dormaa-based club to the Mexican outfit as the deal was almost concluded.

“It is my target to win the goal-king title together with the Premier League trophy for my club, but it is likely that I will not finish playing in the league because my employers are talking to a club and the deal is about 89 per cent through.

It is good to play in the local league but now that an opportunity has come for me I must move on,” he said.

However, the CEO of Aduana, Albert Aryeetey Commey, has refuted claims that the player was on his way to the Mexican club, insisting their top marksman would feature for Aduana in the domestic top flight competition since his contract had not expired.

Mr Commey threatened that Aduana were gathering information to strengthen their case as they plan to seek redress with football’s world governing body for what he called “unprofessional player transfer activities”.

“We will report them [Mexican club] to FIFA to sanction them because they are not being professional. We are not happy with them posting his pictures on their website and other social media platforms saying that he is in their camp.

“They only told us they were interested in the player on loan and we told them that he must finish his contract before moving to another club so they should wait till the end of the season. Does that constitute transfer of the player?” he queried.

The Aduana boss also chastised the player for speaking to clubs without the knowledge of his employers and giving those clubs assurance of his transfer to their camps without following the necessary procedures.

“The player too is not helping the situation. This same Yahaya was talking to Hearts of Oak executives behind our back but as I told you earlier there is no deal for his move to another club. Yahaya Mohammed will play in the league for Aduana Stars until the league is over. He is going nowhere,” he stated categorically.

The 28-year-old midfielder joined Aduana Stars from Libyan side Al Ittihad Tripoli on a two-year deal.
