Yaya Toure in trouble

Yaya Toure could face retrospective action for what appeared to be a kick into the base of Ricky van Wolfswinkel’s back during their Premier League action against Norwich.

What made matters worse was the fact that the Dutchman was lying on the floor after the ball had gone when the controversial incident took place.  

Toure’s swipe in the dying stages of last Saturday’s draw could yet have repercussions for a stuttering City team already missing scorer Sergio Aguero.

City manager Manuel Pellegrini tried to dismiss the incident, saying: “I didn’t see it and I’m not concerned about that.”

But Van Wolfswinkel was adamant out on the pitch that Toure had kicked him, and City boss Chris Hughton said: “If that’s the case, then enough people will have seen it, even though I’ve not seen it at this stage. Ricky’s not one for complaining, he generally just gets on with it.”

Toure had been ordered by Pellegrini to stay back in a deep holding role which completely removed his attacking threat.
