Homowo races continue today

Phillip Tekoe's Ikaida is set to make the headlines again next week at the second day of the 2017 Homowo Festival Race Meetings, which will come off today at the Accra Turf Club.

The six-year-old colt will bid to give jockey Benjamin Kotey, a record second successive win in two weeks in the competition, which is under the distinguished patronage of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

MTN FA Cup semi-finals...Hearts, Kotoko in tricky battles at Obuasi

Premier League giants, Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko, will hope to meet for the fifth time this season when they engage Wa All Stars and Medeama in the semi-finals of the MTN FA Cup, at the Len Clay Stadium at Obuasi tomorrow.

Having failed to win the competition since its re-introduction in 2011, Hearts are keen on defeating All Stars in an expected tough encounter, as they look to stand a chance of winning their first trophy in the competition since 2000.

Minister tasks AWCON 2018 LOC to stage world class tourney

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah, has tasked the 11-member Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the 2018 African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) to deliver a world-class tournament on behalf of all Ghanaians to the rest of the world.

According to Mr Asiamah, he is confident that the 2018 AWCON LOC chaired by Madam Freda Prempeh will "go beyond excellence and exceed the expectations of all stakeholders" because of the calibre of knowledgeable and experienced personalities on the committee.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has promised to facilitate the trip of a conglomerate of supporters unions, Alliance of Ghana Supporters, to India to rally behind the national U-17 team during the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

According to the Sports Minister, Mr Isaac Kwame Asiamah, he had earlier assured the various supporters unions of his outfit's support if they were able to unite under one umbrella body, a requirement they fulfilled for the first time during the final of 2017 WAFU Cup last Saturday.
