Local tennis star, Herman Abban, will seek to further build his blossoming tennis career as he pursues further training abroad.
The national under-18 top seed, leaves Accra in October for Sutton in Surrey, England, to train with the best coaches and the most sophisticated tennis facility in the United Kingdom.
Under the sponsorship of Mr Kojo Adu Sarkodie of CDH Securities, with support from the Ghana Tennis Association (GTA), the 18-year-old tennis prodigy told the Graphic Sports he was confident that the exposure would sharpen his skills to enhance his performance in the future.
‘’This is the first time a Ghanaian has been invited to train in Sutton and I will make my country proud by coming out as a better tennis player”, he told the Graphic Sports.
According to Kobby Brew, a member of the GTA, who facilitated the sponsorship package, the association is fully behind Herman Abban.
‘’We have been waiting for an opportunity to train our players at the highest level with the state of the art facility and now the opportunity has come’’, he added.
He said the association was in the process of identifying more players to train with the best tennis facilities outside the country.
Sutton Tennis Academy offers tennis in Sutton, Surrey, the most excellent facilities, which include a health and fitness gym and physio clinic.
Although providing priority for junior players, the tennis centre, located in South West London, is open to players of all ages and abilities.
Tennis coaching at Sutton Tennis Academy includes individual tennis lessons and a wide range of tennis courses.
