Accra Aca, Accra Wesley Girls triumph :In Inter-School Athletics

Accra Academy and Accra Wesley Girls showed class in the Greater Accra Schools Sports Association (GASSA) Zone One annual Inter-School Athletics Competition.

They each won the boys and the girls events during the two-day competition which was held at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra.

While Accra Academy amassed 174 points, Accra Wesley Girls, which is gradually carving a niche for itself in sports, secured 92 points.

During this year’s Spriteball Basketball Competition,  Accra Wesley Girls placed second in the Girls Category. The schools’ participation in the competition was the first.

Following Accra Academy in the contest were Kaneshie Senior High Technical School (KATECO), which came second with 93 points, and the Odorgonno Senior High School placed third with 77 points.

For the Girls Category, St Mary’s Senior High School came second with 92 points followed by Christian Methodist Senior High School with 79 points.

The schools competed in events such as high jump, 100, 200, 800, 4X100 and 4X400 metres, long jump, triple jump, shot put, javelin and discus.
