Aduana sweat over Mohammed fitness - As they host ES Setif Wed

Aduana Stars will welcome Algerian side, ES Setif to the Agyeman Badu II Stadium at Dormaa in the second round of their CAF Champions League on Wednesday, looking to maintain their winning ways at home to possibly advance in their campaign.

The only Ghana side remaining in the continental club competition for this season, Aduana are hoping to continue from where they left off when they eliminated Libya’s Al Tahaddy in their first preliminary stage game.

While the team remain hopeful, Aduana are yet to enjoy the good form of one of their key players, Yahaya Mohammed, and Chief Executive Officer Albert Yahaya Commey, has admitted that the experienced striker was yet to hit fine form for the Ghana Premier League champions.

Commey said his outfit expect the 30-year-old to come back stronger by getting himself in shape ahead of a supposed busy campaign with Aduana set to mount a title defence, as well as challenge for the CAF Champions League and FA Cup.

Mohammed has received criticisms from the club’s supporters over his poor performances for the club since his return, calling on him to improve his game.

In an interview with the Graphic Sports, the Aduana boss noted that the technical handlers of the team were working on getting Mohammed fit for the club’s aspiration, having re-signed for the club with sores on his toe.

We know he has not been in shape since he returned to club and while the technical handlers are keen on getting him to be back to his good form, it is really up to him to overcome the challenges and come back stronger as a professional.

He returned to the club not very fit, but I believe he will be in good shape to help the club when he is most needed, Commey assured.

Mohammed re-joined Aduana ahead of the upcoming campaign having failed to record a single appearance with Mexican side Murciélagos F.C.
