Hearts, who had gone three matches without a win, stunned defending champions Ashgold 2-1 at Obuasi, while All Stars defeated struggling Inter Allies 2-0 at the Wa Park.

There were home victories for Techiman City and Berekum Chelsea who defeated Bechem United and Dreams FC 2-0 respectively, while Liberty Professionals moved up to the third position after shocking Sekondi Hasaacas with a 1-0 away win at Essipon.

Last Saturday, Kumasi Asante Kotoko suffered another setback after a brief revival in their two previous games under caretaker coach, Michael Osei, losing 0-1 to New Edubiase at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

Striker Prince Antwi scored the lone goal in the 21st minute as Referee Joseph A. Amenya played about 10 minutes of time added on, even though the Fourth Referee had indicated five additional minutes.

Yesterday, under-fire Hearts coach, Kenichi Yatsuhashi, inspired his charges to break a long-standing jinx at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium to hand their bogey side Ashgold their second home defeat this season, reports Daniel Kenu.

It was Hearts’ second win in seven matches at Obuasi, having struggled to break the home invincibility of Bashir Hayford’s side since 2007.

Exhibiting a man-of-the-match performance, Cosmos Dauda scored a brace for the Phobians in the 53rd and 61st minutes, while Awudu Nafiu pulled a goal back for the homesters in the 73rd minute.

In an exciting match, which recorded a very high attendance at the Len Clay Stadium, the Phobians played a good game, particularly in the early stages of the second half and were rewarded with two important goals by Cosmos Dauda, who took his tally this season to four goals.

Dauda could have made it a hat-trick, but minutes after scoring the second goal he fumbled when he came face to face with Ashgold goalkeeper Fatau Dauda who had a good day.

•  West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) claimed a decent 2-0 win over Ebusua Dwarfs at Sogakope through goals by skipper Charles Boateng, who fired his side ahead in the 26th

minute, before Ibrahim Tanko wrapped up their fourth home victory in five matches.

• A 90th minute strike by Bernard Arthur handed Liberty a 1-0 victory over Hasaacas -- their first away win of the season.

• At the Golden City Park, Berekum Chelsea earned an emphatic 2-0 win over Dreams FC who dropped to the seventh position.

Seth Appiah connected a Sadick Adams cross home in the first-half before Adams claimed the maximum points with a powerful finish to lift the former champions to the fourth position.
