Ashgold fail to rake windfail after massive patronage of game against Hearts

The massive patronage of last Sunday’s top clash between Ashgold and Accra Hearts of Oak failed to yield the expected financial windfall.

According to Kudjoe Fianoo, Chief Executive of Ashgold, a little over GH¢11,000 was realised as net revenue from the game, conceding that his club could have creamed more revenue from the match.

“We failed to take advantage of a golden opportunity to make some big money for our club considering the massive patronage of the game.

“This is about the biggest attendance we have recorded for a league match at Obuasi in recent times, unfortunately there was nothing much to show in terms of revenue”.

Fianoo disclosed that fees as low as GH¢3 and GH¢10 were charged at the gates for the popular stand and the VIP wing of the Len Clay Stadium respectively and that accounted for the disappointing proceeds.

“We must blame ourselves for not charging special rates for the match and rather keeping to the normal rates”, he stressed.

He said initially 8,000 tickets were printed for the match, but an additional 2,000 tickets were released which were all bought.
