Asante Kotoko head coach Eric Tinkler has vowed to transform the Baba Yara Stadium into a fortress where visiting clubs will struggle to pick up points against the Porcupine Warriors.
The South African trainer believes Kotoko must make home advantage count by ensuring that no visiting side leaves Kumasi with points.
According to Tinkler, achieving that objective will require the full backing of the club’s passionate supporters, whose presence he believes can create an intimidating atmosphere for visiting teams.
“We need to make our stadium a fortress and we need to make it very difficult for teams to come here, and the fans play a big part in that,” he said.
Tinkler said Kotoko must build an aura around the Baba Yara Stadium that would make opponents uncomfortable even before stepping onto the pitch.
“Teams should fear to come here because of the support base that we have and, with them, we can obviously change that history,” he added.
The coach believes a strong home record will be critical to Kotoko’s ambitions this season and has challenged his players and supporters to work together to make the Baba Yara Stadium a difficult venue for every opponent.
For Tinkler, turning home games into guaranteed opportunities for points will be an important foundation for Kotoko’s campaign as they seek to challenge for honours.
