Bechem dare Kotoko in Kumasi

Eleventh-placed Bechem United look to draw inspiration from their MTN FA Cup performance to beat Kumasi Asante Kotoko again when they clash in their Premier League encounter at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors, second on the league log, lost 2-3 on penalties to the Bechem lads to crash out of the FA Cup at the quarter-final stage in Kumasi last month.

However, Kotoko seem to have found a spring in their step in the league and look poised for revenge on Sunday, particularly as a win could see Michael Osei’s side leapfrog league leaders Wa All Stars, whose one-point lead at the top looks threatened.

The form guide and head-to-head match-up clearly favour Kotoko who have not lost a league game against Bechem in Kumasi and are also unbeaten in their last four league games, whereas the visiting side are bad travellers having lost all their last five away games.

At Essipon, third-placed Accra Hearts of Oak will engage Sekondi Hasaacas who lie in 12th place and will seek to test Hearts’ away might, particularly under new Coach Sergio Traguil, who leads the Phobias outside Accra for the first time.

An uncompromising encounter is expected at the Carl Reindorf Park where sixth-placed Liberty Professionals host seventh-placed Dreams FC in a mid-table clash, while fourth-placed Aduana Stars look favourites to defeat bottom-placed New Edubiase United at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park at Dormaa-Ahenkro.

Berekum Chelsea welcome struggling Ebusua Dwarfs to the Golden City Park, defending champions AshantiGold play host to Inter Allies at Obuasi, while Wa All Stars test the home might of WAFA, who are yet to lose at the Sogakope Park.
