Banku and Samir have dared each other in the past three years after the latter called for a possible fight between the undefeated puglists.

Both boxers have been inactive for some time now, with Banku having been out of the ring in the last two years since earning a technical knockout over Ayittey Powers, while Samir’s last fight was in his unanimous decision win over Sijuola Ade Shabazz last year.

Banku (29-0-0)  told the Daily Graphic after signing the contract to fight Samir, that it was time to prove to boxing enthusiasts in the country his superiority by finishing his opponent in the sixth round.

He added that he was ready to end years of arguments in the ring by beating his opponent convincingly on the night.

"I want to assure my fans and the entire nation that I will stop Bastie Samir in round six because he is no match for me," Banku said.

"I hear people say I'm afraid of Bastie because he has dared me for over three years but everyone must know that just like Mayweather and Pacquaio, great fights usually take time to happen," he added.

Samir (15-0-1) said he was ready to end Banku's reign in the country, but admitted it will be a tough fight considering the strength of his opponent

"I expect a good fight against Bukom Banku and I'm not in to underate him. He is a tough boxer but I am ready to end his dominance in the ring on September 30," Bastie told Daily Graphic.

The Chief Executive Officer of Box Office Sports Promotions, Alex Ntiamoah, said his outfit was glad to have secured a long standing bout which promises to be a night of good boxing.

He stressed that both boxers were ready to showcase their talent in the sport on the night and urged Ghanaians to come in their numbers to support their favourite boxer.
