Kenichi Yatsuhashi — Hearts Coach

Can Hearts hold WAFA?

Accra Hearts of Oak will attempt to present a united front when they play host to West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) in a dicey encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium this afternoon.

Hearts’ brilliant start to the season has been rocked by a Facebook post by their Japanese trainer, Kenichi Yatsuhashi, whose comment blew the lid on unpaid salaries of the backroom staff and players at the club.

Yatsuhashi, in the comment stressed that his heart remained with the club and as such the Phobians would be expected to capitalise on the horrendous away form of WAFA to return to winning ways.

Second-placed Hearts, despite their off-field troubles, which have coincided with a two-game losing run, will still enter today’s clash as the overwhelming favourites, given that sixth-placed WAFA have won only one away game (against Inter Allies) since returning to the top flight.

But Hearts centre-backs, Robin Gnagne and Richard Akrofi will have to be wary of the league's joint top scorer, Samuel Tetteh who will fancy his chances of adding to his five-goal tally against a sluggish backline.

WAFA are also expected to welcome back their coach, John Kila after he was granted a one-week compassionate leave by his club to attend to a pressing family issue in Holland.

At Dawu, Kumasi Asante Kotoko will be searching for their third victory against impressive third-place Dreams FC in another cracker. Bottom club, Ebusua Dwarfs, welcome Techiman City to the Cape Coast Robert Mensah Stadium in another tight contest, while New Edubiase United challenge tottering Ashantigold in an interesting derby at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.

In other fixtures, Bechem United face league leaders, Wa All Stars at the Bechem Park; Aduana Stars engage Sekondi Hasaacas at the Dormaa-Ahenkro Park while Liberty Professionals host Berekum Chelsea at the Dansoman Carl Reindorf Park.
