Obed Owusu — Kotoko

Can Kotoko stop Bechem at home?

For the first time in the history of Ghana football, Accra Hearts of Oak will play behind closed doors against Sekondi Hasaacas in a 12th week Premier League attraction which their large army of followers can only monitor from afar.

But the two-match home ban notwithstanding, the Phobians are bent on beating their poor travelling opponents at home to keep a firm grip on their slim lead on top of the league log as a reward for their faithful fans, who have vowed to converge behind the Accra Stadium to support their club physically and financially.

While the league leaders sort themselves out against Hasaacas in Accra, their fifth-placed rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko, who are just four points away of the top, storm Bechem for a more difficult battle with Bechem United.

Despite playing in an unfamiliar territory against 10th placed Bechem United, the odds seem to favour Michael Osei’s squad, considering their steady rise of late.

Though the homesters will put up a fight in a bid to improve their lot, the fact remains that they need to do much more work to hold in-form striker, Dauda Mohammed, and his attacking partners such as Frank Sarfo Gyamfi, Obed Owusu and Eric Donkor.

Despite experiencing some turbulence in recent times, Coach C.K. Akonnor’s Dreams FC are ready to put their 0-4 thrashing by Aduana Stars behind them and fight for the maximum points at their favourite Dawu base against stubborn Liberty Professionals.

A very interesting encounter awaits Cape Coast fans at the Robert Mensah Stadium as the new-look bottom club, Mysterious Dwarfs, honour their very first assignment under coach Prosper Narteh and technical director, Kim Grant, against tough customers, Berekum Chelsea.

The outcome of the match will go a long way to justify Dwarfs’ decision to part ways with Coach J.E. Sarpong or otherwise as the Cape Coasters strive to survive the threat of relegation.

At the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium, struggling New Edubiase United do not seem to be safe as they play host to the Yahaya Mohammed-led Aduana Stars, while second-placed All Stars and WAFA look set to sell out a real thriller to Wa fans.

At Tema, defending champions, Ashantigold, will fight for a vital away point in their bottom clash with Inter Allies.
