Dreams plot Hearts’ fall tomorrow

Dawu-based Dreams FC are set to cause more hiccups for Accra Hearts of Oak when the two teams clash at the Accra Stadium tomorrow in a fierce second-round opener of the 2015/2016 Ghana Premier League.

The two sides, who are often tagged “sister clubs” due to the relations between their founding fathers, shared the points in their 1-1 draw at Dawu in the first round under some controversial circumstances.

However, Coach Charles Akonnor in an interview with the Daily Graphic yesterday, said nothing would stop his side from running away with all the three points tomorrow, adding that not even the arrival of Hearts’ newly recruited Portuguese trainer, Sergio Daniel Moniz Traguil, scared them.

‘I know Hearts inside out. There is nothing new about them that I don’t know. We are ready to pick up from where we left off. We are a rejuvenated Dreams team ready to win more games in the second, including the Hearts game,” he assured.

To motivate the team to achieve the grand victory tomorrow, the management, technical handlers and the entire playing body of Dreams FC, together with some friends from the media converged on Living Room, in East Legon last Wednesday to wine and dine amid live band music and photo shoot sessions.

While Coach Akonnor is confident of victory, his counterpart, Traguil, who took charge of the team after the departure of Japanese Coach, Kenichi Yatsuhashi, has a big task to get his players to believe in his philosophy, as well as psyche themselves up to overcome the effect of Kenichi’s departure in order to win the game for their angry fans.

Hearts struggled to win at home in the first round as they won only three out of seven games, hence the need to win at home tomorrow to solidify Coach Traguil’s position as head coach, as well as win the support of the teeming fans who are yet to come to terms with the departure of their ‘darling’ manager Kenichi.

But Dreams FC have a hidden agenda to set the records straight by beating Hearts to justify why they still believe that referee Seidu Bomison robbed them of a vital home win by disallowing what they believed was a good goal at Dawu.

At the Nana Ameyaw Park at Techiman, giants Kumasi Asante Kotoko also have a herculean task to beat Techiman City who have not lost a game at the ‘Den’ this season.

Michael Osei, who has just been confirmed as the head coach of Kotoko after the club’s Board of Directors finally parted ways with Coach David Duncan last Wednesday, will need a win to prove a point in a game that has the potential to take Kotoko to the top of the league table.

In other week 16 fixtures, WAFA host defending champions Ashantigold at Sogakope, Berekum Chelsea travel to Wa to play league leaders All Stars, 13th-placed Inter Allies host 11th-placed Sekondi Hasaacas at the Tema Stadium, Ebusua Dwarfs welcome Liberty Professionals to the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast after beating them at Dansoman a few weeks ago, Bechem United host second-placed Aduana Stars at the Nana Gyeabour Park at Bechem, while New Edubiase United engage Medeama behind closed doors at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.
