As a result, a three-day coaching course dubbed, “First In Service Training” (Refresher Course) for National Team Coaches designed to achieve this goal, began last Monday and expected to end today at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE), Prampram.

The opening ceremony was attended by all coaches of the various national teams except Black Stars coach, Kwasi Appiah, and his assistant Maxwell Konadu, who were absent because they were busy with preparations ahead of the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

In an address, FIFA instructor and resource person of the course, Ben Koufie, disagreed with the assertion that Ghana does not have it’s own brand of football while stressing that Ghanaian football was designed to entertain.

“In the past, when the Stars were leading by a huge margin, the Director of Sports, Ohene Djan, would signal the team to play “agoro”.

“Agoro became our style and it meant retaining possession and making fun of the opponent. It involves cultured attacking and defending in depth after losing possession”, he added.

GFA executive committee member, George Afriyie, who read a speech on behalf of GFA president, Kwasi Nyantakyi, said his outfit had decided to take a cue from the Spanish Football Federation which had conquered the footballing world using the same style of football at all levels.
