Freezy Macbones fired up for first title shot against Kasparian

Fan favourite Freezy Macbones is promising fireworks when he steps into the ring for his first-ever title shot in Manchester next month, with the vacant IBO Continental Light Heavyweight title on the line.

The 36-year-old, born Seth Gyimah, will take on unbeaten Dutch puncher Artjom Kasparian in what promises to be a fierce clash between two knockout artists at the Bowlers Exhibition Centre.

The bout headlines the “Night of Champions” card promoted by Pat Barrett’s Black Flash Promotions and sanctioned by the British Boxing Board of Control.

Both men enter the ring with unblemished records and dynamite in their fists. Macbones improved to 11-0 (10 KOs) after blasting out Ibrahim Marshall inside two rounds in Aflao last weekend, while Kasparian, 30, extended his unbeaten run to 12-0 (10 KOs) with a sixthround TKO over Ukrainian Serhii Ksendzov in Middleton just a day earlier.

For Macbones, the October 4 fight represents the biggest night of his boxing career and also marks his first UK appearance since April 2023, when he stopped Daryl Sharp at the Copper Box Arena — only weeks after his viral debut knockout at London’s York Hall that earned him the tag of the “British Mike Tyson”.

After a failed bid to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics, the Ghanaian boxer returned home to reignite his pro career, stringing together a sensational run of nine consecutive stoppage wins to set up his long-awaited title shot.

Now, he believes the stage is set for him to make a breakthrough on British soil.

“I started boxing at 27 and now at 36 I’m fighting for my first title. It motivates me. I’ve prayed for this chance and I’m more than ready,” he told the Graphic Sports from his Accra training camp.

Confident and uncompromising, Macbones fired a warning at his rival: “Kasparian is a good boxer, but he hasn’t faced anyone like me. It’s 50/50, but it won’t go the distance. He will go down. I promise my fans we’re bringing the title home.”
