Gaisah wins gold for Europe

Ignitious Gaisah continued his exploits for the Netherlands and Europe as he leaped to gold at the two-day IAAF Continental Cup in Marrakech, Morocco.

Gaisah, a late replacement for injured Britain's Greg Rutherford, jumped 8.11m to claim the gold and increase Europe's haul to six gold in the individual events.

Gaisah, a former Ghanaian champion, had played second fiddle to Rutherford at the European Championship, but being called in as a late replacement, meant he had to also justify his call up.

He did not disappoint as he was the only man to leap past the eight metre mark in Marrakech.

It was also a memorable night for Britain's James Dasaolu as he also dashed to a gold finish in the 100m race, beating USA's Mike Rodgers and Qatar's Femi Ogunode to second and third places respectively.

As the competition ended last night, Europe led with 222.5points, Americas second with 191, Africa and Asia-Pacific third and fourth on  164 and 137.5 points respectively.
